INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After a fourth-quarter collapse in Eugene on Jan. 24, Indiana women’s basketball took full advantage of their do-over versus the Oregon Ducks in the Hoosiers’ 78-62 win in the second round of the 2025 Big Ten Tournament.
From the moment the ball tipped, the Hoosiers were the aggressors. Before the first media timeout, Indiana was up 15-4. This was thanks to the Hoosiers’ defense turning over the Ducks seven times, which led to 13 Indiana points.
Throwing multiple bodies at Oregon’s post players allowed junior guard Shay Ciezki to steal the ball away and get great momentum on offense. Ciezki scored 11 points in the first quarter on 3-for-4 shooting from beyond the arc.
“We just threw the first punch right out of the gate and never let up,” graduate guard Sydney Parrish said.

Despite leading the game wire-to-wire, Indiana allowed the Ducks to stay within shooting distance in the second and third quarters because of foul trouble to the Hoosiers’ main core. Yarden Garzon, Lilly Meister and Karoline Striplin all had three fouls before halftime.
The Ducks made it a five-point game with 43 seconds left in the third quarter off a jumper from Oregon’s sophomore forward Sarah Rambus. However, Garzon’s 3-pointer with 23 seconds left in the frame showed how much of a difference Indiana’s shooting was on Thursday. Garzon led all scorers with 18 points, and Ciezki was close behind with 17.
The Hoosiers shot 11-for-25 from beyond the arc, which improved their record to 9-0 when they made 10 or more 3s.
“I thought they were comfortable,” Oregon head coach Kelly Graves said. “We never really got them uncomfortable. Right from the start, they go 5 of 10 in the first quarter, and that really set the tone.”

Another factor that allowed the Hoosiers to be successful in this game was their bench stepping up big in this game. Although it did not appear in the stat sheet, freshman forward Faith Wiseman played key minutes to help Indiana clinch the win. Wiseman’s 10 minutes today were more than she has played the last two months of the season.
“I think she was a little scared at first, but she boxed out, rebounded, had two charges,” Parrish said. “She was a crucial part in our win today, especially because Oregon's interior game is so tall.”
With No. 1 seed USC up next at noon ET Friday, Indiana will need to play at its best and have everyone contribute.
“Don't put them at the line,” Indiana head coach Teri Moren said. “Make them have to earn everything.”
