Another week, more upsets and more highly entertaining basketball results in another bracketology projection. This week, specifically the weekend, saw some of the most stunning upsets we’ve seen all season.
No. 2 Iowa State was beaten by West Virginia, No. 6 Tennessee was upset by Vanderbilt and No. 7 Marquette lost to Xavier all on Saturday afternoon, but that wasn’t all for top 25 teams going down.
No. 14 UConn and No. 16 Gonzaga lost to unranked Creighton and Santa Clara respectively, while No. 17 Purdue defeated No. 13 Oregon, No. 4 Alabama beat No. 8 Kentucky, No. 15 Mississippi State got the best of No. 21 Ole Miss and No. 12 Michigan State won vs, No. 19 Illinois in the ranked-on-ranked matchups over the weekend.
It really was one of the best stretches of hoops we’ve seen all year, shaking things up both at the top, and down by the bubble, as several teams were both introduced to and left the field of 68.
The SEC still leads the pack with 12 teams in, while the Big Ten is down to 10 teams after Ohio State and Iowa are now on the outside looking in. Indiana and North Carolina are hanging by a thread in the first four, while New Mexico and Vanderbilt are now safely in after big wins.
With so many surprising and intriguing results in recent days, this bracket has shifted a ton, but that doesn’t mean that it will in future weeks, as this college basketball season has proven that anything is possible, especially as we draw closer to March.
